Objective: 

This course will familiarise the students with basics of IT and Computer Application. It will also enable students to understand the implication of basic softwares and applications such as Microsoft Office in the field of Journalism.

Computer Fundamentals- Characteristics of a computer, History of Computers, Classification of Computers, Applications of Computers, Introduction to Software: Types, Computer Languages, Language Processors.

Basic Components of a Personal Computer, Functions of various devices, Input devices, Output devices, Central Processing Unit, Computer Memory: Primary and Secondary.

Numbering Systems- Decimal, Binary, Octal, Hexadecimal, Conversions from one base to another, Computer Arithmetic: Binary Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division.
