Contemporary Debates: Farm Bill

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur organised an interactive session about Farm Bill under the title ‘Contemporary Debates’ on 9th January. The key-note speaker for the debate was Mr. Harikishan Sharma, Assistant Editor, Indian Express.

The session revolved around the much-debated Farm Bill along with Farmer’s Education and Agricultural Journalism. Mr. Harikishan decoded the farm bill and spelled out the details without any prejudice. Mr. Sharma is a well- known agricultural journalist who brings out true stories of the farmers with an empathetic approach; this session provided the students with an opportunity to learn more about agricultural journalism and understand the new farm bill, also explore a new arena in the field of Journalism.

Mr. Sharma is currently working as an assistant editor at the Indian Express, KC Kulish intl. Award recognised him for his outstanding work. The session was attended by over 50 students; by the end the floor was open for the students for question- round.
