The department of Journalism and Mass Communication in association with Institutes Innovations Cell, IIS (deemed to be University) organized a Guest Lecture on the topic of ‘Women Entrepreneurship’ on Monday, September 20th, 2021 in A.V Hall. The guest speaker of the session was Ms. Catherine Fisher, North India Public Diplomacy Officer, US Embassy, India. She has an experience of working as Foreign Service Officer, Watch Officer, Special Assistant and currently working as Public Diplomacy Officer in U.S Department of State. She has also served in Brazil, the Philippines and at the Operation Center and Bureau of Public Affairs in Washington, DC, USA.
The session commenced with a brief introduction of Ms. Catherine Fisher by Dr. Shipra Mathur, Advisor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. After brief introduction, Ms. Fisher took over the session and shared her thoughts about how women entrepreneurship affects and empowers women. She also discussed about her experience as Public Diplomacy officer with all the students present there.
To make the session more informative and interesting, a PPT was presented in the session which covered various interesting topics like famous women entrepreneur, their qualities, misconceptions people have about entrepreneurship, real life examples. She guided the students about the true definition of success and work-life balance. In the end the session was declared open for questions. Many students raised their questions and doubts regarding small startups and some shared about their very own experiences in the field. In the end, she mentioned how startups and small businesses are beneficial and how one can set a goal achieving strategy. Students and faculty members of Journalism and Mass Communication and young entrepreneurs of the university, students of MBA in Entrepreneurship attended the session.
The session concluded with presentation of the vote of thanks and memento to Ms. Catherine by Dr. Shipra Mathur, Head and Advisor, Dept. of JMC.
