Objective of the workshop/seminar/activity:The workshop aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of public relations (PR) and how to explore new horizons and opportunities in PR and corporate communication. It focused on enhancing students' knowledge of the fundamental principles, objectives, and evolving trends. Additionally, the session sought to offer hands-on experience through interactive activities, thereby equipping students with practical skills and industry insights.

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, in collaboration with the Public Relations Society of India (Jaipur Chapter), organized a pivotal session titled "Exploring New Horizons and Opportunities in Public Relations & Corporate Communications” on October 19th, 2024, at the AV Hall.
The Session commenced with a warm welcome note delivered by Dr. Raakhi Gupta, Registrar of IIS University. In her address, she extended a heartfelt greeting to the distinguished guests, speakers, and participants. She took the opportunity to provide an overview of IIS University, emphasizing its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and holistic development.
Following the insightful welcome note by Dr. Raakhi Gupta, Mr. VirendraPareek, Director, Marketing & PR Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Science and Technology took over the session, stepping into the role of moderator for the panel discussions. With his extensive expertise in marketing and public relations, he highlighted the critical role of effective marketing and public relations strategies in shaping the future of education and technology sectors. His insights emphasized the importance of leveraging innovative communication tools to address emerging challenges in these domains. Mr. Pareek seamlessly guided the proceedings, introducing the panelists and setting the context for each discussion.
Farooq Afridi, the former Joint Director of DIPR Jaipur, shared his wealth of knowledge on public relations and government communication. Drawing from his illustrious career, he shared compelling anecdotes about his interactions with some of India’s most prominent figures, including former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot. Dr. Jitendra Dwivedi, the State Correspondent for All India Radio (AIR) Jaipur, delivered an engaging discussion on the evolving landscape of journalism and media. Dr. Dwivedi also offered an insider’s perspective on working closely with the team of Prime Minister NarendraModi, sharing valuable lessons on leadership, communication, and strategic thinking. Furthermore, he outlined the complete process of becoming a Public Relations Officer (PRO), providing aspiring professionals with practical insights and guidance to navigate this dynamic field.
Lastly, Ram Phool Gurjar, a respected member of RSCRDC, shared his extensive experience as a Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the government sector. He highlighted the vital role of public relations in bridging the gap between citizens and the government, emphasizing how effective communication can foster trust, transparency, and collaboration.
