The Department of Journalism and mass communication of IIS (deemed to be University) organized Media Week, 2022 from April 25th to 30th. Mini Media week was celebrated for student’s growth and industrial exposure.
Day1- Inaugural day of media fest, commenced with PR & Writing workshop, where expert Ms. Tusharika Singh, PR & Digital Media Manager, Spark PR imparted information regarding importance of public relation in corporate sector. She talked about the journalistic writing, expression and framing of sentences and gave various tasks to the students which were cherry on the cake. At the end of the session Dr. Shipra Mathur, felicitated Tusharika with a token of thanks.
Mr. Manish Advani, founder & CEO, MIMO Potentio Pvt. Ltd., PR expert joined the session virtually and interacted with students, he discussed the career opportunities in the field of Public Relation. Also shared his career journey and struggle he faced to achieve success.
Dr. Shipra Mathur, advisor & head of Journalism and Mass communication department, took the session on Languages of Media. She discussed the importance of Hindi language and helped to improve its vocabulary in journalistic writing.
Day2- The Department of Journalism and Mass communication organized an educational visit for pragmatic knowledge under the able guidance of Mr. Ankit Kesari, Ms Ashwarya Mathur and Bhanupriya saini. Students visited India’s first venture group Dainik Bhaskar and MY FM radio station, where they learned about the working of the FM, editorial and digital departments of the Dainik Bhaskar. Students also know about the day to day challenges faced by the reporter in the field. Students also visited renowned regional news channel First India where they learned about the working of newsrooms and how news broadcasts. The visit concluded with a knowledgeable and fruitful visit for the students.
Day-3 & 4- The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in collaboration with Canon organized a two day Canon DSLR Workshop and Pixels-photography competition during fest. The session experts were Mr. Gajendra Singh, DSLR Expert and Naveen Saini, Product Evangelist Rajasthan, interacted with the students and taught those basics of photography and camera. On the other day, experts and students went for a shoot and a pixel photography competition was held on various themes including pets, food, and lifestyle and judged by the expert.
Day 5- Media fest commenced with intra department competition, which included RJ Hunt, Budding journalist where students showcased different bollywood characters. In the event RJ Hunt, the jury was RJ Sufi and RJ Shivani, FM Tadka, two rounds were conducted for the participants. All the participants participated with great enthusiasm. The center of attraction was PK, Geet, Koi Mil Gaya sequence, Padmavat, Gangubai. Winners of the event were Aman Khan, Archana Singh and Rohini Rathore.In the event, Budding Journalist, the jury was Mr Sushant Pareek, Zee Rajasthan and Ms Harshil Kaliya, Patrika TV. Participants on the spot were given 20 minutes to prepare Four news bulletins and two news in detail in multilingual language. All the participants presented their news bulletins with great enthusiasm. Arpita Shekhawat stood first position, second position stood by Khushi Daheech and third position shared with Kritika Jain and Gargi Sharma. At the end of the event additional head Ms. Ruchi Goswami felicitated the guest with a token of thanks.
Day 6- On the last day of the event, commenced with Open Mic and Insta-reels competition at AV Hall, the jury was Dr. Mithlesh Jaimini, Senior Journalist and Ms. Pragya Rathore, IIS Alumini, various categories such as Drama, Poetry, Stand-up, singing, storytelling, where participants showcased their talents.
At the end of the event Dr. Aastha Saxena and Dr. Aditi Pareek felicitated the guest with a token of thanks.
Outcome of the activity/event/seminar/workshop: The event provided a platform to the students for professional learning growth and industrial exposure.
