Digital media has changed the facets of traditional media. Now, one does not need to sit at one place to have access to information. Digital has made it possible that a newspaper or a news channel has its presence everywhere from social media to online media. But on the other hand, it has definitely increased the role of journalist. These thoughts were shared at a moot press conference organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of The IIS University.

Topic of the conference was Changing Face of Media in Digital Age where eminent media personalities Dr. Arvind Kalia, Marketing Head, Rajasthan Patrika, Dr. Prerna Sahani, Head and Editor,  City Bhaskar, Mr. Anuj Sharma, Head, Musk, A Public relations Company, Mr. Praveen Dutta, Channel Promotion Head, A1 Tv Rajasthan, Dr. Anita Hada, Anchor Zee news were present as panelists.

The discussion began with the advent of digital age on media. Dr. Kalia shared his views on digitization and said that technology, interactivity and time dimension are the key factors for working working of traditional media nowadays. Mr. Dutta shared that the consumers’ perspective as information is reaching out to people in many ways.

Dr. Hada discussed the co-existence of the media. Print or electronic media is no more limited to newspaper or a tv channel respectively rather it has its availability on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and other online platforms such as Youtube, mobile apps etc. so, in this situation reporter is doing multitasking on one hand he is working for the traditional media and on the other hand he is filing his story on digital platform at the same time.

Dr. Sahni talked about real time information. She said that now every media organization has to be prompt in terms of filing a story otherwise it will lose its audience.

Sharma represented public relations industry and shared his views on how digital platforms play an important role in reaching out to public and the target audience.

Program was concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Dr. Ruchi Goswami, Organising Secretary.
