Objective of the workshop/seminar/activity: The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the functioning of a media house, including newsroom operations, content production, and the integration of technology in journalism.

Description (max 500 words): The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organized an educational visit to Zee Rajasthan on September 26, 2024, to offer students an opportunity to witness and understand the dynamic workflow of a media organization.

The visit commenced with a warm welcome by the Zee Rajasthan team, followed by an introductory session led by Shashi Mohan Sharma, Bureau Chief. He provided a comprehensive overview of Zee Rajasthan’s operations, emphasizing its commitment to delivering authentic and impactful news.

The students then interacted with Anjani Sharma from the Assignment Desk, who explained the process of planning and allocating news coverage assignments. He shared insights on how breaking news is managed, resources are mobilized, and deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.

In the technical segment of the tour, Bhushan, the Camera Unit Head, demonstrated the equipment and technology used in news production. Students explored the intricacies of camera operations, lighting techniques, and shooting setups essential for live broadcasting.

The newsroom tour included interactions with the reporter team, comprising Damodar Sharma and Kashiram Sharma, who elaborated on the challenges of field reporting and storytelling. They shared personal experiences, highlighting the importance of accuracy, speed, and ethical considerations in journalism.

Students were also guided through the studio and control room, where they observed live telecasts and learned about the roles of producers, editors, and technical staff in ensuring seamless broadcasting. The visit concluded with a Q&A session, during which the students asked thought-provoking questions regarding the future of media, career opportunities, and the role of regional news in shaping public opinion.

Outcome of the activity/event/seminar/workshop: Students gained in-depth knowledge of the newsroom and production processes, bridging the gap between academic theories and real-world practices.
