The department of journalism and mass communication organised its 6 th media fest- Vividha on 25th and 26th October 2017 in the university campus. The two day event commenced with an inaugural ceremony where the Chief Guest was editor of Rajasthan Patrika, publisher of mohenjo daro and winner of 7 literary awards Mr. Om Thanvi. The inaugural ceremony began with the college prayer and lighting of the lamp followed by a speech from the Vice chancellor of The IIS University Mr. Ashok Gupta thanking Mr. Thanvi for gracing the event with his presence. Mr. Thanvi spoke about how journalism has changed over the last 40 years and how the language has evolved as language is the essence of any medium which is used in journalism. He also went on to explain how social media is just an extension of media but it can not be called journalism as one writes their opinion on social media and there is no one to check whether it’s right or wrong. He added that in earlier times, the news used to be first published in newspapers and the follow ups were done by the television but now on a days the situation is vice versa .He emphasised on how superstitious shows are promoted these days and explained that the role of media is to stop biasness, crime and communalism. He concluded his speech by motivating the students to do a fair journalism without any fear while keeping the morals of journalism in mind. Youth Speak (college newsletter) was released by the Chief Guest. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the HOD of Journalism and Mass communication Ms. Garima Srivastva.
