Vividha, the Sixth Annual Media Fest was organized by the department of Journalism and Mass Communication on 10th-11th Feb. 2017. Vividha is an inter-collegiate event which aims to provide opportunities to the students in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication. The two days fest widely covered the events like Ad-Mad, MediaQuiz, Photography, Film Festival, Toggle, RJ hunt and Budding Journalist and saw an active participation from the different colleges and universities of Rajasthan and outside the state.
The fest began with an Inaugural ceremony that took place in the AV hall. The event started with Saraswati Vandana and lamp lighting. Dr.Ashok Gupta the honourable Vice Chancellor, The IIS University extended a floral welcome to the Guest of Honour Dr. Mukseh, Senior Journalist, Head department of Journalism and Mass Communication, SGT University, Gurgaon and the Chief Guest Mr. K G Sharma, Director General, IIMC, Delhi. Both the esteemed guests spoke on the various roles of media in the present times and highlighted the new emerging opportunities in this field. The participants were inspired and enlightened with their motivational words. Dr. Rakhi Gupta, the Rector and the Registrar, The IIS University, presented mementos as tokens of gratitude and remembrance to the Chief Guest Mr. K G Sharma and the Guest of Honour Dr. Mukesh. Dr. Garima Srivastava, Head department of Journalism and Mass Communication proposed the vote of thanks.
The first and interesting part of the first day began with AD-MAD, an advertisement making competition. In this innovative game of imagination, the students showed enthusiastic participation. The participants presented advertisements on a jumbled brand name given to them on the spot and were evaluated on the basis of creativity and the way of expression. The event was judged by Ms.Shree Lahiri, Ms. Prerna Sahni and Mr. Naveen Tripathi. The first position went to The IIS University whereas second position holder was S.S. Jain Subodh PG College, Jaipur and the third position was won by St.Wilfred’s College, Jaipur. The second event of the day was Brainstorming-Media Quiz, the most awaited event, where ten teams competed against each other. The event was well structured and prepared in six rounds and segments. The judgment was being done on the basis of spontaneity and intelligence S.S. Jain Subodh, Jaipur bagged the first prize, whereas The IIS University, Jaipur won second and third positions respectively. Dr. Shilpi Rijhwani, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, was the judge for the event. The next and last event on the line was Pixels-Photography Competition which was full of colours and saw keen participation from different universities and college of Rajasthan and outside. The participants captured the perfect moment and successfully drew viewers with their picture perfect compositions. The themes of the composition were “Expression”, “Situation”, and “Innovation”. The first position went to Modhumita Bhattacharya, The IIS University, Jaipur , Nilesh Jain of National Institute of Photography, Delhi stood second and Anubha Khandelwal of The IIS University, Jaipur. The event was judged by Mr. Sumant Sircar, Senior Photo Journalist, DNA, Jaipur and Mr. Manoj Shrestha, Senior Photo Journalist, Dainik Bhaskar, Jaipur. In online Photography competition contestants participated through Facebook Page and were assessed on the basis of the themes viz. “Selfie” with Significance” and “Saturation”. The competition was won by Anubha Khandelwal, The IIS University, Jaipur. The second position holder was Pankaj Saini from St. Wilfred College, Jaipur and the third position Went to Varsha Gupta of The IIS University, Jaipur.
The second day of the fest was filled with some more exciting events. The very first event of the day was Final Cut- Film Festival that provided an excellent platform to the young film makers. A good number of films were showcased by the young, energetic, creative and aspiring directors from various colleges and universities of Rajasthan in two categories- Fiction and Non-Fiction. The judges of the event were Mr. Ashok Rahi, renowned columnist and Theatre Director, and Mr. Rakesh Gogia, a film maker. In the non-fiction category, Priyadarshini Choudhary from Amity University, Jaipur bagged the first position for the film Lost Cinema, Ronak from JNU, Jaipur stood second for his film Katorey Main Bachpan , and Deshraj Gurjar from Poornima University , Jaipur won third prize for the film Azno Jaan . In fiction category Ketli , a short film by Rajshree Gaur was awarded first prize . Rakshita for Psuedo Ethics secured second and Anubha Khandelwal won third prize for Pahal. The next event in the row was Toggle- Black and White. The judge of the event was Dr. Anita Hada Sangwan,news host, Zee News Rajasthan and Assistant Professor The IIS University, Jaipur. The participants were asked to speak on both the negative and positive aspects of a topic given on the spot. The event was highly interesting and saw enthusiastic response. The winner of the event was Sippu Kumar from JNU, Jaipur. The second position went to Arjun Singh Jodha from S.S. Jain Subodh PG College, Jaipur and Riddhi Tiwari of The IIS University, Jaipur whereas the third position was won by Jinu Abraham, The IIS University, Jaipur .One more exciting and enthralling event that took the audience by storm was RJMania(RJ Hunt).It was a competition where spontaneity, creativity and presentation skills of participants were put to test. First round was the introductory round where students introduced themselves to the Judges. Second round was the “On the Spot RJ” round where students presented their views on the given topic .The event was divided into three rounds “ Introduction”, “Mimicry” and “Showcase” and was judged by RJ Vikas Pareek, Radio Mirchi and JJ Sudeepta, Radio City and RJ Shilpi Goswami, Radio Seven. The event saw participation from various colleges of Rajasthan.The winner of the first position was Akshay Udawat from S.S. Jain Subodh PG College, Jaipur. Rishabh Gupta of JNU, Jaipur secured second position and Palak Gupta from JNU, Jaipur of bagged the third position. The final event Budding Journalist-Journalistic Expression also presented an opportunity to the students to display their talents in making audio- video news story. The participants were asked to prepare a news headlines in Hindi or English on camera. The event was judged by Mr. Amit Sharma, Output Head, Patrika TV and Ms. Tabinnah Anzum Qureshi Bureau, Deccan Herald, Jaipur. Over 20 participants showcased their reporting and news reading skills in the event. The first prize went to Ishika Kachhawa, The IIS University, Jaipur .The second award was won by Sippu Kumar, JNU, Jaipur and the third prize went to Ms. Dikshita Jalan, The IIS University.
The fest came to a close with a wide array of events that offered the students to exhibit their innate capabilities in unbound measures. Moreover the two days fest was a successful, interesting and fun filled occasion that attracted wholehearted participation of the young media enthusiasts.
