Objective: 

This course will enable the students to -

  1. Understand the basics and techniques of digital photography.
  2. Acquaint the students to capture various types of photographs by understanding lighting techniques and rules of composition.
  3. Understand the basics of photo editing software.

Understanding the Mechanisms of Photography, Photography and Media, Types of Photography Cameras and their structure (Pin-Hole, SLR, TLR, D-SLR, Box Camera), Lenses

Aperture, Shutter Speed, Light Meters, Focus and Depth of Field

Understanding Light and Shadow; Natural Light and Artificial Light,

The Nature of Light- Direct, Soft, Hard, Directional, Highlights, Shadow and Silhouettes

Lighting equipment (Soft Boxes, Umbrellas, Fresnel’s, Skimmers, Reflectors, etc); Three Point Lighting, Technique and Metering for Light, Filters and Use of a Flash Unit
