Vividha'23- An Annual Media Fest

Media Fest Report

The Annual Media Fest, “VIVIDHA’23” was organized by the department of Journalism and Communication, IIS (Deemed to be University). The fest commenced with the inaugural ceremony on day one. The Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony was Mr. Prafulla Ketkar (Chief Editor of Organizer Weekly magazine). The ceremony commenced with the saraswati vandana and lighting of the lamp by the chief guest and Dr. Shipra Mathur, Advisor and Head, Department of Journalism and Communication.

Mr. Ketkar was felicitated and formally welcomed by Dr. KS Sharma, Advisor, IIS (Deemed to be University) by presenting a handmade painting. Dr. Shipra Mathur presented the welcome note and introduced the department and the fest.

A special teaser screening of ‘Vibhajan ki Vibhishika’, a film on the lives of uprooted immigrants during the partition of the country was also organised. The film was later to be screened during the film festival on day 2.

In his address, Mr. Prafulla described the importance of News and made the audience aware about how crucial it is for the younger generation to know the Importance of Media. He also shared his experience in the industry and shared some valuable knowledge of History.

In the end of the session, Dr. Ruchi Goswami presented a vote of thanks. She thanked the chief guest and audience to tale their precious time to be a part of the fest.

The first competition at the fest was Ad Mad competition. This competition is a chance for the students who are competing to showcase their combined ability. It is a competition which provide the platform for participants to explore their creativity. One of the judges for the competiton was Mr. Kapil saxena (CEO Of Kalandi Advertising). Mr. Saxena has 30 years of experience in the field of advertising and has worked with companies like Amul, etc. The alumnae guest for the competition was Dr. Jolly Jain, Assistant Professor, JECRC University.

Participants were judged on the basis of Concept, imagination, acting skills, music and sound effects, creativity, etc. Team from IIS (Deemed to be University) bagged first prize in the competition.

Reel competition

Rock & Roll (Reel Competition) which was also organized in annual media fest vividha’23, on 24th march at AV hall. 39 Participants from various colleges were there in the competition. Topic/Theme was already given to them on which they have to make there reel topics was (Comedy, Motivation and Satire). Judges for the reels competition were Mr Vikram Sharma (Founder, Director of Mystic Brains) and Ms Diksha Mittal (Alumna, Digital Manager, Santokba Durlabhji). Event participants gave their best.

HumareAlfaz ( Open Mic)

HumareAlfaz (Open Mic) was the last competition of day one organized in annual media fest Vividha’23 which was held at AV hall. More than 50 students from various colleges and universities of Rajasthan participated in the competition. In open mic, participants showcased there talents through singing, poetry, story telling and shayiri. Participants were judged by Dr. Nikita Batra (Alumna), Assistant Professor, JECRC and Mr. Sandeep Sharma, Freelance Events Host. First prize was won by Parul Soni of IIS (deemed to be University), second prize was won by Jatin of Subodh College and third prize was won by Devansh of Jagannath University.

 

DAY 2

Film festival (Chalchitra express)

The film festival (chalchitra express) was organised during the Media Fest “VIVIDHA’23” on day 2. The event started with the welcome of the Judges. Judges for the session were Miss Anshu Harsh, Publisher and Editor of Rajasthan’s first bilingual monthly lifestyle magazine, Simply Jaipur, and a weekly newspaper, Voice of Jaipur and Miss Maheshwari shekhawat,  IIS Alumna who has been Working as a Assistant Director from past 3 years and making independent documentaries on culture and folk. Her recent work was, Vicky Kaushal starer Sambahadur as an Assistant Director.

Dr. Shipra mathur maam commenced the event by giving brief intro about the movie ‘Vibhajan Ki Vibhishika’ the movie based on the horrers of the partition of India and then the screening took place. After which a token of thanks was presented to the guests. The competition began by the announcement of the rules and regulations and the screening of all the films was done after words.The competition screened various short films and documentaries made by the students from various colleges and universities of Rajasthan.

In the end the trophies were awarded to the winners and and concluding thanks was presented with the group photo.

Photography

Photography competition was organised on the day two of the Vividha’23. MR. Shobhit Tiwari and Ms. Saloni Agarwal were the judges of the competition. Mr. Shobhit Tiwari is a Guinness World Record holding photographer who excels in the field of Long Exposure Photography. Ms. Saloni is a professional photographer & an alumina of the department. She has won Indian Icon award – women led start up of the year Powerful women awards 2022. Total no. of participants were 50 in the competition. Theme of the competition were Golden hour, Abstract, Street.

Budding Journalism was organised on the last day of the media fest. Total 15 students took part in the competition. The judges of this competition were Mr. Hitendra Kumar Sharma and Miss. Utkarsha Shekhar. Participants were required to ferret out significant happenings and compose a news bulletin out of the provided matter and present it on camera within stipulated time frame.

Participants can present the news in format of AUDIO VISUAL.Winners of the competition were Tapaswini Shekhawat (first), Parul Soni (second) and Sakshi Goyal (third).

Suno Dil Se (RJ Hunt)

Last competition of the fest was Suno Dil Se (RJ Hunt) There were two rounds in the competition. In the first round, participants introduced themself as an RJ and in second round they talked on a topic in a humorous way and was judged by RJ Suf(FM Tadka) and RJ Shivangi(Alumna FM Tadka).

Valediction Ceremony

Valediction Ceremony of Media Fest “VIVIDHA’23” organized by the Department of Journalism and Communication, IIS (Deemed to be University). The Chief Guest was Mr. Mukesh Mathur, State Editor, Dainik Bhaskar, Rajasthan.  Dr. Shipra Mathur presented the welcome address for the valediction ceremony. After that Mukesh Mathur sir enlightened the students by sharing his experiences in the field. Photography and Cinematography club was launched during the ceremony. The club provides a platform to the students who wish to learn and develop the skills of photography and cinematography. In the end, Prof. Ruchi Goswami presented a vote of thanks.
