Objective: 

Course Objectives

 

This course will enable the students to examine the interplay of Indian media and constitutional principles, analyzing media responsibilities, freedom of speech, and legal frameworks, including recent regulations impacting digital media and OTT platforms.

(Theory)

CO52: Analyse nexus between Indian media and the constitution, encompassing media roles and responsibilities.

CO53: Explore parliamentary privileges, contempt of court, sedition laws, defamation, the Working Journalist Act, and the Right to Information Act. 

CO54: Analyse legal regulations impacting media and society. 

CO55: Critically evaluate Information Technology Act of 2000, regulations for Over-the-Top (OTT) and the implications of new guidelines for digital media.

CO56: Analyze media bias, censorship, obscenity, violence, and fake news, along with considerations of gender and cultural sensitivity. 

CO57: Contribute effectively in course-specific interaction.
